Playing the lottery, why do you do it?

Personally I think playing the lottery is a waste of money. I think it’s used to exploit the poor into thinking they’ll win a bunch of money and be rich beyond their wildest dreams. The money made is never used for what its intended for yet people still hand over money for a ticket like its nothing. I know that sometimes people won’t play the lottery unless it’s in the tens of millions, what is the allure?
